Lest We Forget By Wendy Walters

For my first blog I thought I would do a scrapbook page. I had been to Arnhem in September for the commemorations of Market Garden. These are just 2 of many photos I took.

First of all, I took a 12" x 12" white piece of card and sprayed it with Heritage Green Elite Mister across the base of the sheet and Seashell Blue Mister across the top. This was to represent the grass and sky.

I then cut 4 of the backing plates from the Kaleidoscope Segments die in Ice Gold Pearl card, then I joined two together with a piece of double sided tape. Having done that I then shaped and trimmed away the pointy end. To make it look more like a parachute I embossed some lines on it. For the parachute lines I used some very thin ribbon attached to the back of the parachute with tape at an angle.

The next job I did was cut some mats for my photos, the smallest mat was in Ice gold and the next two in Polar White, which I coloured the edges with Chameleon Green and Blue Emperor ink pads. I then mounted the photos onto the mats .

Having done this it was time to add the parachutes to the photos. I added foam tape to the parachutes and taped the line ends to the back of the photos then decided where I wanted them to be positioned and stuck them on the page.

The next job was the flowers. On a piece of Polar White card I stamped part of the Anemone stamp in Black Panther ink, several times. I thought this flower looked like a poppy. Now to colour, I used watercolour pencils for this but you can use what ever you like as these ink pads are water resistant, acid free and archival quality so shouldn't bleed. After colouring my flowers I then fussy cut them.

TIP - When fussy cutting move the object around and not your scissors. Also, after cutting use a black pen to colour any tiny bits of white that might show after cutting.

Then it was a case of laying them on the paper to decide how I wanted them positioned, and glueing them in place. I did cut one flower in half and had them coming out of the sides of the photo.

Now to do a title. I cut some Polar White card with the larger backing from the 'Thinking of You' Sentiment Colllection and edged it with the Chameleon ink pad.

For the journaling I cut two pieces of Polar White card, one a little bigger which I edged with the same red water colour pencil as I did the flowers. The smaller one I stamped the Anemone in Elephant grey - this doesn't show up very well in the photo, then wrote my journaling over the top of this.

The journaling I stuck flat on the page and the title was raised on foam tape.

The last thing to be done was to stick some black gems into the centres of the flowers.

I hope you like my page, I look forward to sharing more ideas with you in next weeks Blog. - Wendy
